One day, Emma discovers a response letter in her Grandpapa’s mailbox. She discovers another and another. She has no idea who the letter bandit and letter writer is but she sure loves receiving the letters. She imagines they say exactly what her beloved Grandpapa would say to her if he was writing them.
In The Mailbox : Letters to Grandpapa, the chapters center around Emma’s love for art, music, writing, dancing, horseback riding, bicycling, and more and shares her doubts about her abilities.
The chapters also show Emma enjoying time with the children having pumpkin carving contests, sharing Thanksgiving meal at the orphanage, sledding with the children, picking a Christmas tree to decorate, bake cookies with the children, and more. Emma finds a way to have clothes and gifts for the children to make the Christmas season special for all the children at the orphanage.
